Relax on Zurich's lakeside promenade
Experience Zurich culture on Sechseläutenplatz, enjoy the unique view of the Alps from Bürkliplatz or linger on one of the attractive sunbathing lawns. A walk around the lower shores of Lake Zurich gives you a relaxing holiday feeling.
The lakeside promenade of Lake Zurich is the perfect place for a long walk. In summer, the various bathing facilities and sunbathing lawns allow you to take a refreshing dip in the cool water and are also a popular meeting place. And in winter, the view of the snow-covered Alps and the Uetliberg brings a special charm.
Sechseläutenplatz rich in tradition
Sechseläutenplatz is located on the banks of Lake Zurich, between Bellevue and the Zurich Opera House. It is considered the city's most popular festival site. Every year, the traditional "Sechseläuten" (a ritual to ring in the spring) takes place here. During Christmas season, the large square is dominated by the Christmas market. Linger and watch the happenings on the chairs scattered all over Sechseläutenplatz.
Enjoying the panoramic view from Bürkliplatz
The viewing terrace at Bürkliplatz is definitely worth a stop when walking along the lakeside promenade. In good weather, you can see as far as the Alps from here. Bürkliplatz is also the perfect starting point for a round trip on Lake Zurich thanks to the boat landing gate. In addition, the large square hosts a vegetable market twice a week and a flea market on Saturdays in summer.
Our tip: to experience the full diversity of the lake promenade, walk from Tiefenbrunnen station to the opposite city boundary at Wollishofen.
